Urban Agriculture

Human health is tied strongly to their ability to produce healthy and abundant foods. Safe and abundant production of local fruits and vegetables improves human health, stimulates the local economy, and supports local producers and food systems.

To support Nebraskans health and wellbeing, we must both protect a biodiverse environment that provides for healthy, abundant foods, a strong local economy, and sustainable natural resources, while also managing public health and horticultural crop concerns and threats.

Through Extension experts and resources, Nebraskans have what they need to make well-informed decisions. Nebraska Extension is an integral partner in helping Nebraska live up to its well-earned reputation as “The Good Life.”

Cottage Foods

A person may prepare and sell food directly to the consumer at a public event, or for pick up or delivery, without obtaining a food establishment permit so long as the person preparing and selling the food (producer) complies with Nebraska Cottage Foods laws.
